We are pleased to be recruiting consultant psychiatrists for this major CAMHS service in Australia.

Package up to $477k plus oncall, depending on consultant experience. 

 

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Perth, Western Australia offers support, advice and treatment to young people and their families who are experiencing mental health issues. Children and families are referred to Mental Health by their treating therapist, specialist, GP, School or other community organisation.  The service provides recovery-focused programs, and services for children from birth up until a person turns 18 years old. CAMHS has the following 3 key program areas: Acute, Community and Specialised.

 

Expressions of interest and applications are welcome from consultant psychiatrists interested in any of these 3 settings. 

 

Acute CAMHS

 

  • CAMHS Inpatient Unit Perth Children’s Hospital - recovery focused patient and carer/family-centred service MDT 7 day program for voluntary and involuntary patients.
  • Paediatric Consultation Liaison Service and Gender Diversity Service.
  • Eating disorder - a tier 4 state-wide MDT specialist service.
  • CAMHS Crisis Connect provides telepsychiatry support for children and young people.

 

Community CAMHS

 

  • There are 10 Community clinics spread across the Perth metropolitan area, offering mental health assessment and multidisciplinary intervention for kids and young people up to 18 years.

 

Specialised CAMHS services.

 

  • A state-wide service providing assessment, treatment and support for kids 6 to 12 years with complex and longstanding mental health issues and carers/families. 
  • A day program for young people aged 12 to 17 years who are struggling to cope with relationships, mood difficulties and impulsive self-harming.
  • Complex attention and hyperactivity disorders service - statewide, providing support to under 18s and carers/families.

Selection criteria

 

 

  • FRANZCP or progress towards FRANZCP (w. Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry)or equivalent qualifications gained in either NZ, UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, South Africa. Applicants who have trained in Sri Lanka and completed at least 2 years in Australia or New Zealand are welcome to apply. 
  • Expertise in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
  • Experience in providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective, interpersonal and communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment. 
  • Knowledge and expertise in undertaking individual therapy and family systems interventions.
  • Interests and involvement in quality improvement processes and in the maintenance of professional standards. 
  • Experience in education, training and supervision of undergraduate medical and other related professionals.
