Mount Gambier Hospital is the largest public health facility in regional South Australia and is an 80-bed facility offering 24-hour emergency care, 12 day surgery chairs, and 4 operating theatres.

As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing pre- and perioperative anaesthetic care in both surgical and obstetric cases. Additionally, you’ll provide expert input into the management of patients in the HDU and A&E when on duty.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Leading by example as a role model for staff.
- Teaching and supervising junior medical staff.
- Delivering exceptional clinical care.
- Initiating and participating in quality improvement projects, including audits and morbidity and mortality reviews.
- Building and maintaining strong local and regional relationships with stakeholders.
- Engaging in relevant research projects, if required.
- You’ll bring extensive experience in contemporary anaesthetic practices, systems, and procedures. We’re looking for someone who thrives on challenges, is an adept problem-solver, and excels in collaborative environments.
Selection criteria
- FANZCA or an equivalent qualification from the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, or Canada.
- Experience working in cross-cultural medical settings.
- A strong understanding of public health systems and the unique challenges they present.
- A proven track record of involvement in quality improvement initiatives.
