We are excited to now be helping a mental health service in Ireland to recruit a consultant in child and adolescent psychiatry.

The Cork & Kerry community mental health service is a progressive multi disciplined service with a committed group of associated clinicians and staff. It has a very strong focus on recovery and co-production. It has developed and enhanced its community based services in recent years whilst reducing numbers in its acute programs.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
 

  • Being responsible for the coordination of care and treatment of patients within the multidisciplinary setting and other stakeholders. 
  • Ensuring the service is community orientated with treatment delivered in community settings. 
  • Delivering first class care in the delivery of care via community based assessment and treatment programs such as outpatient clinics, day clinics, residential services and so on. 
  • Taking part in quality improvement, risk management, peer review and audit initiatives. 
  • Ensuring timely and high-quality clinical and non-clinical documentation and the management of hard-copy or digital information.
  • Supervising junior medical staff and providing advice to. 
  • Promoting CME to colleagues and staff, ensuring your own is kept up to date. 
  • Participate in internal teaching and educational initiatives. 
  • Contribute to or initiate research activities. 

 

Selection criteria:

 

  • Irish registration or eligibility for specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry either completed in EU member state or UK - CCT in child & adolescent psychiatry or CESR (if CESR must have 33months FTE post CESR).
  • First class communication and workplace collaborative skills. 
  • Willingness to participate in teaching and supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Experience in mental health service development.
