You will join a talented and diverse group of senior medical professionals which includes other consultants in emergency medicine, consultant general surgeons, paediatricians, psychiatrists, anaesthetists/ICU, consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists, consultants in general medicine, director of clinical training, senior medical practitioners, senior registrars and registrars. 

 

You will provide leadership to a MDT to deliver comprehensive emergency medicine services. You will promote patient safety and quality improvement initiatives whilst teaching and mentoring associated staff.

 

Your scope is broadly the following:

Clinical.

Administration (clinical). e.g clinical governance, attending to medico-legal issues. 

Teaching/Education e.g. teaching and mentoring DiTs. 

Leadership e.g. assist in the health service's broader policy aims and strategies. 

 

The job and location would suit an enthusiast of rural and remote medicine. The community has a population over over 30k and there are additional smaller communities spread around a large geographic region. The larger town has full amenities including restaurants, cinemas, full sporting facilities, airport with daily flights to Perth, pubs, cafes etc.

 

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

 

  • FACEM or equivalent
  • Significant post-graduate experience in emergency medicine.
  • Good awareness of contemporary developments and trends in the specialty of emergency medicine. 
  • First class communications skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships at all levels and manage conflict as it arises. 
  • Commitment to managing clinical risk and improving quality.
  • A desire for living in Australia and experiencing its unique, friendly country lifestyle. 

 

Applicants with experience in rural and remote emergency medicine or retrieval services, and/or an understanding of Aboriginal culture will be highly regarded.
