This rural health service in Western Australia is seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join their dynamic team in Kalgoorlie.

 

As a key member of the service, you'll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality healthcare services across this culturally rich and geographically vast area. With a population that includes 12.3% Aboriginal people, you'll be part of a team which works to provide culturally appropriate care and strives to make a real difference to the community.

 

About the Role:

As a general Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, you will provide leadership and specialist clinical care for patients in Kalgoorlie and the wider Goldfields-Esperance region. This role involves managing both obstetric and gynaecological conditions, collaborating closely with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and senior medical personnel to ensure seamless patient care. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor junior staff and medical trainees, contributing to the professional growth of the next generation of healthcare providers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist care to patients in obstetrics and gynaecology, ensuring treatment meets clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with the Maternity Ward’s Clinical Nurse Specialist and other medical staff to manage patient care.
  • Supervise and mentor medical interns and trainees.
  • Participate in clinical governance and risk management, ensuring the highest standard of patient safety.
  • Engage in strategic planning and policy development for the Maternity services.
  • Contribute to quality assurance programs and participate in relevant hospital committees.

Requirements:

  • Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (or equivalent).
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Strong clinical expertise and communication skills.
  • A commitment to clinical governance and quality patient care.
  • Willingness to travel within the region.
