Darwin is a modern, cosmopolitan city. It is the Northern Territory's administrative, governmental, academic and cultural centre. From Darwin you can fly quickly and easily to South East Asia (e.g. Singapore or Jakarta) for onward transfer or regular flights to destinations around Australia.
The industrial agreement pertaining to senior medical practitioners working in Darwin is excellent. It has lucrative provisions and benefits for oncall, call-back, overtime, working on public holidays etc.
This is an exciting job whereupon you will be responsible for the provision of clinical leadership in addiciton's service's practice, clinical governance issues, service development, and alcohol and other addictive substances' related advice, training and support to medical colleagues and other health practitioners in hospital, community and primary health care as well as other stakeholders working in the Darwin and regional areas serviced by the mental health services and addictions services.
Selection criteria
- FRANZCP or FRACP or equivalent specialist training in addictions psychiatry or addictions medicine in the UK or other equivalent countries of training.
- Broad experience in addiction psychiatry/addiction medicine within MDT settings.
- A compassionate and collaborative approach to your work with patients at the centre.
- Experience in cross-cultural settings.
- Interest in Aborginal Australian health, mental health and culture.
