This major Victorian regional health service and hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and capable leader in emergency medicine to lead and develop their newly redeveloped and reopened Emergency Department.  The service and executive are committed to becoming a regional centre for excellence in emergency care and has taken the initial steps to achieve this with a new ED and augmenting an existing established & growing professional team. 

 

 

The next step is to now recruit a Director to take the ED to its next phase.

 

You will have developed strong leadership skills and be the natural leader the team will respect and follow. They will respect your clinical expertise, your collaborative style and adaptability which will fit in perfectly with an ED and hospital going through exciting transformational change. 

 

You will lead an already sourced Associate Director Emergency Medicine, Director of Emergency Training and a range of Consultants/Staff Specialists who have expertise in trauma and critical care, paediatric EM, major incident and disaster, toxicology and mental health. The ED has commenced an education and training program and it is accredited with ACEM. The service is affiliated with a University in Melbourne and clinical, academic and honorary posts are available (depending on qualifications and experience).  A newly built 10 bed ICU is also open and is also accredited for training.

Selection criteria

*FACEM or those who will soon complete their Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) Fellowship examination are also encouraged to apply.

*If not FACEM and you are trained outside of Australia, you will have completed your training in Ireland, UK, USA, Canada or South Africa or have been assessed as SC.

*Previous experience as Clinical Director or Director of an ED.

*First class communication skills. 

*Commitment to quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance.

*Willingness to participate in education, teaching and supervision arrangements. 

*Sound knowledge of contemporary emergency medicine.
