We are pleased to be recruiting consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist in eating disorders for this major CAMHS service in Perth, Western Australia,  Australia.

 

 

 

 

The remuneration package is up to $477k plus oncall - depending on consultant experience years 1-9. 

 

 

 

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Perth, Western Australia offers support, advice and treatment to young people and their families who are experiencing mental health issues. Children and families are referred to Mental Health by their treating therapist, specialist, GP, School or other community organisation.  The service provides recovery-focused programs, and services for children from birth up until a person turns 18 years old. CAMHS has the following 3 key program areas: Acute, Community and Specialised which includes eating disorders.

 

Eating Disorders

 

The Eating Disorders Service is a tier 4 WA State-Wide Specialist Service, offering assessment and treatment to young people with severe eating disorders. It is a multi-disciplinary team providing outpatient care, day treatment, inpatient care and support groups. The program supports children and young people and their families through assessment, recovery and discharge from the service. Our primary intervention is Family Based Treatment (FBT).

 

As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Psychiatry. Your contributions will extend to teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities within the inpatient unit. This is a unique chance to be part of a dynamic team, shaping the future of mental health care for children and adolescents.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide high-quality clinical management and treatment to patients at the inpatient unit.
  • Uphold and elevate professional standards while fostering an academic environment that supports education, research, and professional development.
  • Actively contribute to teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Selection criteria

 

  • FRANZCP or progress towards FRANZCP (w. Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry)or equivalent qualifications gained in either NZ, UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, South Africa. Applicants who have trained in Sri Lanka and completed at least 2 years in Australia or New Zealand are welcome to apply. 
  • Expertise in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and in eating disorders.
  • Experience in providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective, interpersonal and communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment. 
  • Knowledge and expertise in undertaking individual therapy and family systems interventions.
  • Interests and involvement in quality improvement processes and in the maintenance of professional standards. 
  • Experience in education, training and supervision of undergraduate medical and other related professionals.
