  • Up to $267k base salary.
  • Up to $133k private practice allowance (guaranteed).
  • Clinical Director allowance $23k.

  • On-call allowances, overtime allowances and penalty shifts calculated on top of above.

This exciting job provides the opportunity to lead the largest adult psychiatry mh service outside of Brisbane in Queensland. Reporting to the Mental Health Medical Director and to the University Hospital Chief Medical Officer you will support 7.0 FTE specialist psychiatrists working in adult mental health. This includes an Adult Inpatient Unit and 3 community outpatient teams. Further, you will engage with exciting clinical governance activities and projects including in research, quality and teaching.

 

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to

 

  • Ensure the safe delivery of first class care which meets the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Lead and participate in service development projects. 
  • Within the Adult Psychiatry group, provide professional leadership and your specialty team. 
  • Ensure the medical workforce is managed, ensuring clinical coverage, leave, rosters are adequately provided. 
  • Inspire, lead and participate in education, research and training projects. 
  • Take responsibility for clinical governance and patient safety. 
  • Monitor the relevant KPIs to the Adult service. 
  • Work with the executive to manage resources and budgets. 
  • Represent the mental health and larger health service in state, national and international forums.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the mental health executive team.
  • Take on clinical duties and responsibilities as a specialist psychiatrist (negotiable with the MD).

 

 

 

 

Selection criteria includes but is not limited to:

 

 

  • Specialist qualifications in psychiatry - FRANZCP in Australia/NZ or CCT in UK and Ireland, Board certifications in USA and equivalent in Canada, South Africa etc. 
  • Substantial clinical practice in psychiatry with evident expertise in adult psychiatry. 
  • A deep knowledge of current psychiatric practice and issues. 
  • Experience and success as a clinical leader.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a medical workforce. 
  • Evident ability to shape strategic thinking, communicate with influence, negotiate, collaborate and build alliances.
  • First class and high level communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Desire to maintain the highest levels of clinical practice. 
  • Willingness to participate in research activities.
