Gladstone Hospital is a dynamic 83-bed facility delivering high-quality inpatient and outpatient care across a broad range of general and specialist services, including Emergency, Surgery, Obstetrics and Maternity, Paediatrics and Coronary and Palliative Care.
Supported by a multidisciplinary workforce of approximately 392 full time staff, Gladstone Hospital offers clinicians the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across acute, community, and primary care settings.
As Clinical Director of Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine at Gladstone, you will step into a key leadership opportunity, shaping the clinical direction of anaesthetic and perioperative services across CQ Health. Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, this role offers the chance to develop leadership capability while working closely with experienced multidisciplinary teams to support high-quality, safe patient care.
You will contribute to service planning, clinical governance, and team development, playing an important role in driving clinical excellence and positive patient outcomes.
You could be an experienced FANZCA leader looking for new professional experience or a FANZCA seeking to step up into a clinical director post for the first time. Either way, this job presents specific professional and lifestyle opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership and support service improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and performance outcomes.
- Promote a collaborative, high-performing team culture with a strong focus on communication and patient-centred care.
- Deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based anaesthetic and perioperative care, including participation in on-call and outreach services as required.
- Support clinical governance, quality, and safety activities, including audit, risk management, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to service planning and the development of contemporary models of care that improve access and efficiency.
- Lead and support medical staff through performance development, engagement, and professional growth.
- Participate in education, training, and research activities across the service.
- Assist with operational and budget management to support sustainable service delivery.
