This health service is a highly respected respected public health care provider. They have a strong commitment to providing first class care to a catchment population of approx. 80,000 people in Victoria, Australia. The Royal Commission into Mental Health in Victoria has resulted in increased funding for services throughout the state. This service is growing and needs a permanent Clinical Director to take the service forward. A remuneration package of up to $463k plus some add-ons will be rewarded (depending on experience). The post is open to both FRANZCP or equivalent SIMG.

As a key member of the leadership group you will work closely with a progressive hospital executive to develop policy and strategy, working with academic institutions, NGOs, primary care and other stakeholders to ensure quality, safe and sustainable health services. You will manage a team of 6 FTE consultant psychiatrists covering adult, old age and child and youth services. There are 6 psychiatric registrars at different stages of their psychiatry training.

Selection criteria

 

  • FRANZCP or completion of specialist training program in a comparable country (of training). 
  • If the latter, you will have completed a 6month formal post in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • At time of reading , at least 2.5yrs work experience at consultant/specialist level. 
  • A personable and inclusive working style. 
  • Demonstrated interest in leadership and management (e.g. additional qualifications ideal but not essential).
  • Commitment to professional development and teaching.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills.
