This major public health service on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to take on the role of Clinical Director within its Mental Health Service as well continue clinical duties.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a psychiatrist who is passionate about clinical excellence, service development and multidisciplinary collaboration, while still maintaining a meaningful clinical presence.
You will work closely with other senior leadership including the Nursing Director Mental Health, other Directors and the GM to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe and efficient mental health services.
You will play a key role in developing strategic plans, strengthening quality and safety systems, and fostering a culture of research, education and continuous improvement across the service.
The Central Coast is a peacefull community currently with a population of 340k , with growth expected to 450k by 2030. This region has all the trappings of a major city but with a much easier lifestyle. Amenities include stadiums, sailing clubs, cricket ovals, parks, marinas, great schools, exceptional housing options, major shopping complexes, cinemas etc. Newcastle is 1hr to the North and Sydney's northern suburbs only takes 45mins.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Providing clinical leadership to specialists, junior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams within the service.
• Working collaboratively with nursing, allied health and executive leadership to deliver integrated patient-centred care.
• Leading clinical governance activities, including annual performance reviews, quality improvement initiatives and the implementation of contemporary models of care.
• Representing the department at site and area Heads of Department meetings, ensuring effective communication and decision-making across services.
• Supporting medical workforce planning, education and training within the mental health service.
Selection criteria
- FRANZCP or equivalent.
- UK CCT eligible for RANZCP accelerated or expedited specialist pathways.
- Extensive experience in specialist psychiatric practice.
- Demonstrated ability to lead clinical teams and manage senior clinical staff.
- Strong commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement and patient outcomes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to develop partnerships across the organisation and broader health sector.
