Consultant Endocrinologist

Mackay Base Hospital is a state-of-the-art regional hospital located in a sunny coastal setting, just a 1.5-hour flight from Brisbane. An opportunity is available for an Endocrinology Consultant, assessed, or would be assessed by RACP as substantially comparable in endocrinology. Mackay Base Hospital’s Diabetes and Endocrinology Service provides specialist care for patients with a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions, supported by modern diagnostic facilities and a multidisciplinary clinical team. 

 

 

Your Role

  • As an Endocrinology Consultant (Staff or Senior Staff Specialist) you will:
  • Provide high-quality endocrinology and diabetes services across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Deliver specialist care for patients with a wide range of endocrine and metabolic disorders.
  • Contribute to education and supervision of junior doctors, medical students, nursing and allied health staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audit, research and service development within the department.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to support patient-centred care across the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.

 

 

Remuneration Package Highlights 

  • Up to $571k after July 2027 + on - call/overtime a package which includes:
  • Motor Vehicle allowance $23-$28k depending on salary band - paid.
  • 3.6 weeks professional development leave. 
  • $22k professional development allowance - paid.
  • Very generous salary sacrifice arrangements
  • Employer paid tax free pension contributions - 12.75%

Selection Criteria

  • FRACP in Endocrinology (or equivalent).
  • Applicants who have already been assessed by RACP as substantially comparable will be highly regarded.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, training and supervision of junior medical staff and students.
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement, clinical governance and professional development.
