My father lives in this part of NSW. He sold his place in Sydney and moved the 1hr north to spend more time on the water - so I know it very well.
It is a peaceful quiet community with a population of 340k but it has all the trappings of a major city. Sports stadiums, marinas, great schools, exceptional housing options, parks, ovals, major shopping complexes, cinemas. Newcastle to the north is also just 1hr drive.
The service provides patient and family centred care to people aged 18+ (with exception of cannabis clinic which is 16+) in a multidisciplinary framework with a motivated and committed group of professionals which include psychologists, doctors, nurses, social workers and Aboriginal specialists.
Services are located at Gosford and Wyong hospitals with community-based counselling teams at community centres across the Central Coast. Inpatient services are located at Wyong Hospital at the Withdrawal Management Unit.

Selection criteria
FRACP or FRANZCP or overseas equivalent in addiction medicine or psychiatry.
If you are a psychiatrist you must have completed a 6 month training post in C&A psychiatry with 2.5yrs specialist experience and you have completed training in either NZ, Ireland, UK , South Africa, USA or Sri Lanka or Canada. If Sri Lankan training you must have completed 2yr placement in Australia.
Physicians, ideally training would be completed in NZ, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada.
Significant experience in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry.
Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
Willingness to participate in internal education programs to teach and supervise junior medical staff.
