  • Rockhampton is a city on Queensland’s coastline. The living is easy, the package and entitlements are great, as is the climate.
  • The Hospital is the largest hospital in this part of Queensland and the main referral hub for the region.
  • You will provide general anaesthesia services including general and regional anaesthesia, obstetric services including epidural/spinal anaesthesia. 

 

 

  • Money - total package up to $534k + on-call, call-back, over-time allowances etc.

Remuneration highlights:
 

Up to $534k first year package plus on-call and other (depending on years at consultant level).

 

$534k includes: up to 25k pa car allowance paid w. salary.

 

  • 21k per annum professional development allowance paid w. salary.

  • 20k incentive allowance (paid over first 12months of employement).
  • Retention allowance.

Job scope includes but is not limited to:

 

Clinical. 

  • Acute ward rounds for high acuity patients, pre-anaesthetic assessment clinics, provide anaesthesia for endoscopy, general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, dental and investigative services.
  • Providing critical care input to HDU patients while on-call for anaesthesia and HDU in consultation with the admitting specialists.
  • Organising and supporting transfer of patients by liaising with Retrieval Services Queensland.

 

Quality & safety. 

  • Initiate and develop QA projects.
  • Participate in the hospital risk management system.
  • Audit. 

 

 

Education and research.

  • Teach and supervise junior and middle grade medical staff.
  • Encourage all medical and nursing staff to continue their medical education (as well as your own).
  • Engage in your own or support department research projects.

 

 

Selection Criteria

  • FANZCA or equivalent training gained in either the UK, Ireland, South Africa, USA or Canada. 
  • Extensive clinical experience with very good knowledge and skills extending across the range of
  • Anaesthetic services.
  • Ideally extensive clinical experience in critical care – ICU and Anaesthesia.
  • Commitment to quality improvement.
  • Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary workplace setting and leadership skills within this context.
  • Experience in an education program for junior medical staff.
