For Consultants working in the Perth public sector mental health services, there will be an additional mandated page increase scheduled for September 2026. This will be the final increase until the next pay award is negotiated.

 

  • Location: Perth, Western Australia.
  • Job: Community CAMHS - Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • From September 2026, package will be up to $539k + oncall. This figure relates to consultants with 9 years or more specialist experience.

 

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Perth, Western Australia offers support, advice and treatment to young people and their families who are experiencing mental health issues. The service is recovery focused and provides programs and services for children from birth up until a person turns 18 years old. CAMHS has the following 3 key program areas: Acute, Community and Specialised which includes eating disorders.

 

CAMHS Community Psychiatrist 

The Community child and adolescent service operates 10 clinics across the metropolitan area, providing support to infants, children, and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges that significantly impact their daily functioning.

 

The service will discuss with you to ensure placement at a clinic that best suits your professional interests and circumstances.

 

As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Psychiatry. Your contributions will extend to teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities. Selection criteria

 

  • FRANZCP or progress towards FRANZCP (w. Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry)or equivalent qualifications gained in UK to satisfy the RANZCP accelerated pathway or ESP pathway. 
  • Applicants likely to be SC assessed on the RANZCP SIMG assessment are encouraged to apply. 
  • Expertise in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and in the community.
  • Experience in providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective, interpersonal and communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment. 
  • Knowledge and expertise in undertaking individual therapy and family systems interventions.
  • Interests and involvement in quality improvement processes and in the maintenance of professional standards. 
  • Experience in education, training and supervision of undergraduate medical and other related professionals.
