We are partnering with this prestigious service to recruit a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists.

 

These exciting Sydney based jobs are within the CAMHS of NSW's largest paediatric health service. 

 

This hospital and mental health service delivers quality care for over 90k sick and injured children annually. It is a public hospital, with a team of over 4,700 staff across 150 departments, The Children’s Hospital offers family-focused care, handling 39k inpatient admissions, 65k emergency department visits, and 771k outpatient services annually. 

 

The CAMHS based in the Western Suburbs of Sydney includes a well regarded Consultation-Liaison service. The CAMHS includes a chronic illness and mental health team and a mind-body rehab program.

 

Statewide quaternary services include the Eating Disorders Team, the Mental Health & Intellectual Disability Hub, and the Hall Mental Health Inpatient Unit. Each team is supported by substantive experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, providing significant opportunities for mentorship for early career psychiatrists

 

Each team is staffed by experienced Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, providing rich clinical exposure and excellent mentorship for early-career specialists.

 

Psychiatrists are encouraged and supported to participate in research and to leverage the service's strong academic and research partnerships. Collaborators include UNSW Sydney, the Black Dog Institute, and Neuroscience Research Australia via Kids Mental Health Research.

 

There are 2 jobs. 1 has a primary location at the Children's hospital in Sydney's Eastern suburbs (close to Sydney's famous  beachside eastern suburbs and the CBD  , the 2nd has a primary location is at the major children's hospital in the Western suburbs. The CAMHS provides quaternary care. Both of these posts will have privileges and potential on-call commitments at the alternative site to their primary location. 

 

The clinical teams include

 

  • Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability Mental Health Team
  • Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit
  • Consultation-Liaison Team 
  • Psychosomatic Disorders and Gender Dysphoria Team 
  • Eating Disorders Team 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Delivering first class care children and supporting their families. 
  • Providing safe, evidence based treatment. 
  • Supervision of care by relevant staff. 
  • Telepsychiatry - for rural health services in NSW.
  • 1-2 site visits per year to rural NSW locations.
  • Management of inpatients. 
  • Within a multidisciplinary team setting, provide first class services to patients, families and carers.
  • Initiate and participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Take part in internal training and education of medical colleagues.

Renumeration ackage includes base salary, private practice allowance, oncall allowances, $39k professional development allowance and superannuation.

 


Selection criteria

 

  • FRANZCP or equivalent gained in NZ, UK.
  • Strong experience in child and adolescent psychiatry with an emphasis on inpatient settings. 
  • Experience in leadership and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team context.
  • High level communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and education.
  • Commitment to your own professional development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and clinical excellence. 
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call roster.
