Salary information

 

The Tasmanian medical agreement is one of the most generous Australian wage settlements for consultants. The package is up to $600k depending on years of experience (Years as a consultant 1 to 10). It includes a professional development allowance of $17k. The health service will also provide full relocation allowances of $15k and provide initial accommodation support , as well as supporting permanent residency support. Package includes fully maintained car or car allowance of $28,786 per annum.

  • 43 bed unit.
  • 45k presentations (20% kids).
  • 30-40% admission rates.
  • As of 16th November ,the average waiting time is less than 2 hours for non-critical cases.
  • Referral centre for Northern Tasmania.
  • ED has high acuity with clinical diversity, including major trauma. Supported by all major specialties and ICU with ECMO.
  • 24-hour cardiac interventional angiography.
  • Australian College of Emergency Medicine accreditation for 24 months of Emergency Registrar Training, including TS4 (late phase training).
  • A talented cohort of FACEM with expertise in ultrasound, paediatrics, retrieval, international EM, medical education and leadership.

 

Job scope 

 

  • Deliver high-quality emergency medical care to patients across all ages, conditions and cultural backgrounds
  • Provide strong leadership in clinical decision-making and patient management
  • Mentor and support junior doctors and medical students, contributing actively to their professional growth
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and uphold best practice through active participation in clinical governance
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and strategic growth of the Emergency Department, bringing expertise in relevant special interest areas

 

 

Selection criteria

 

  • FACEM or training completed in either UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or South Africa or
  • Already assessed by ACEM as substantially comparable. 
  • First class communication skills.
  • A strong collaborative ethos.
  • Interest in teaching and training.
  • Interest in clinical governance activities.
