This is a rare opportunity for a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to live and work in the incredible Australian city of Sydney, a world class city with first class schools, infrastructure, amenities, lifestyle options and partner/spouse work opportunities. 

 

 

Your new mental health service in Australia. 

This service comprises a 190 bed facility made up of 9 separate units, 8 of which are medium to long stay. 1 unit is a 14 bed high dependency unit which is very important in relation to patients of the service with its key aim of caring and treating patients and returning them to the community as soon as possible. 

 

 

Your new job in Sydney, Australia.

As Consultant Psychiatrist your job scope will naturally include ongoing patient assessment, diagnosis and management. Working with the registrar and your MDT you will formulate appropriate treatment plans to ensure patients are treated with empathy, compassion and sensitivity. Other responsibilities will include the teaching, training and supervision of junior medical staff, initiating and participating in quality improvement activities as well as other clinical governance initiatives. 

 

 

What you'll need to do to be a success.

FRANZCP or a specialist international medical graduate trained in NZ, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, South Africa, with a minimum of 2.5years specialist experience at time of reading, with a 6 month formal post in C&A psychiatry during training. Along with these requirements, applicants trained in Sri Lanka are welcome if they have completed 2 years international placement in either Australia or NZ. Further requirements include experience promoting rehabilitation and recovery with strong interest in acute psychiatry, 1st class communication and negotiation skills, demonstrated ability to lead MDTs and a driver's licence.
