You will join a talented and diverse group of senior medical professionals including other consultants in emergency medicine, consultant general surgeons, paediatricians, anaesthetists/ICU, consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists, consultants in general medicine, director of clinical training, senior medical practitioners, senior registrars and registrars. 

 


You will provide leadership to a MDT providing first class psychiatric care to the community. You will promote patient safety and quality improvement initiatives whilst teaching and mentoring associated staff. Your scope is broadly the following:

*Clinical.

*Administration (clinical). e.g clinical governance: quality improvement, research, patient safety etc.

*Teaching/Education.

*Leadership e.g. assist in the health service's broader policy aims and strategies. 

 

 

The job and location would suit a consultant psychiatrist who enjoys rural and remote medicine. The community has a population of over 30k and there are additional smaller communities spread around a large geographic region. The town has full amenities including restaurants, cafes, cinemas, full sporting facilities, tennis club, golf club, swimming pool, cricket ovals and airport with daily flights to Perth.

 


Applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

*FRANZCP or equivalent gained in either UK, Ireland, NZ, USA, Canada or South Africa. Applicants trained in Sri Lanka ill be highly regarded if they have completed 2 years work experience in psychiatry during their training in either Australlia or NZ. Applicants trained in these countries must have completed a 6 month training post in C&A psychiatry. 

*Significant post-graduate experience in general adult psychiatry inpatient and in the community. 

*Good awareness of contemporary developments and trends in psychiatry. 

*First class communications skills.

*Ability to build collaborative working relationships at all levels and manage conflict as it arises. 

*Commitment to managing clinical risk and improving quality.

*A desire for living in regional Australia and experiencing its unique, friendly country lifestyle. 

*An interest in Aboriginal Australian culture and medicine.
