There has been significant capital works investment across this health service which includes expanding and updating the existing inpatient unit in the mental health service. There will also be historic and significant levels of spending specifically for the mental health services. The service is made up of people from a wide range of backgrounds. There is a strong sense of camaraderie, with little turnover in the existing team of consultant psychiatrists. It is a supportive group, culturally diverse who enjoy a manageable workload.
Your new job
- Provide clinical assessment and treatment as a key member of the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide secondary consultation, guidance and advice to a range of other health care professionals and settings.
- Actively participate in the development and promotion of quality improvement activities.
- Participate in the education and supervision of junior medical colleagues (including medical students and psychiatric registrars in training).
Your new mental health service.
- Acute inpatient unit of 15 beds, including 3-4 high dependency.
- Extended Care inpatient unit of 5 beds.
- Prevention and recovery centre of 13 beds.
- 4 community based units including an adult Continuing Care (Recovery and Wellness across four sites).
- And an access mental health team.
- Old age community service.
- CAMHS community service.

What you'll need to succeed.
- FRANZCP or equivalent sub-specialty qualifications and/or experience in general adult psychiatry.
- Excellent teamwork, collaborative and communication capabilities.
- Knowledge of contemporary models of care.
- Clinical experience relevant to the practice of clinical psychiatry of General Adult Psychiatry across a broad range of bed- and community based mental health services.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and research.
- Ability to provide supervision to clinical staff and participate in internal education programs.
- Commitment to professional development.
- Willingness and ability to undertake continuous quality improvement projects.
- A commitment to ethical medical practice.
- Willingness to be on an on-call roster.
