An exciting opportunity exists for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join one of Queensland’s most comprehensive mental health services—based in the vibrant, tropical coastal city of Townsville, with travel to rural and remote inland and offshore communities on a FIFO or 4x4 roster.

 

 

As the largest mental health service outside Brisbane, the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) provides care to a catchment of over 250,000 people across 19 hospitals and health centres. The service ranges from remote primary care to tertiary-level specialist psychiatry delivered at Townsville University Hospital—Northern Australia’s largest teaching hospital and a specialist referral centre for over 700,000 people.

Candidate Requirements

 

  • Fellowship with RANZCP or eligibility for the ESP Specialist Pathway or RANZCP speiclaist assessment —contact us for guidance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in rural and remote psychiatry and ability to work independently in such settings.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and across service boundaries.
  • Culturally competent care and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Track record of leadership, innovation, clinical governance, and teaching.
