Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry - multiple posts in Sydney.

 

 

 

 

This busy and comprehensivel Sydney mental health service is seeking to recruit a number of Consultant Psychiatrists with interests in General Adult Psychiatry.

 

 

These posts are within the Adult Inpatient Units and/or in Community Mental Health Services. Either way, as a senior medical practitioner, you will lead clinical care, mentor and support junior staff, whilst contributing the service's culture of excellence in an iconic part of Sydney.

Job Scope 

 

You will report to the Clinical Director and your responsibilities include but are not limited to

 

  • Providing expert assessment and treatment for patients using a patient and family-centered approach.
  • Provide clinical and behavourial leadership.
  • Participating in quality improvement activities and projects, morbidity and mortality meetings etc.
  • Supervising and teaching junior medical staff and psychiatry advanced trainees
  • Actively participating in and encouraging research activities within the department.
  • Participating in the on-call roster.

 

Selection Criteria

 

  • Current or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • FRANZCP or equivalent specialist recognition. If you are UK or Irish trained and/or already assessed via RANZCP  accelerated pathway or the ESP, or trained elsewhere with a RANZCP outcome of substantially comparable, then you will be highly regarded in the application process.
  • Proven experience in providing high-quality psychiatric services and participation in quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • First class collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate empathetically with patients and carers.
