
Senior Physician Position - General Medicine and Geriatrics
Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional Hospitals, Northern Territory
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced senior physician to provide clinical leadership in General Medicine and Geriatric services across Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional Hospitals. This position offers the opportunity to deliver specialized healthcare in a unique "Top End" tropical environment while making a significant impact on patient outcomes in the region.

Job scope
Clinical Leadership
- Provide senior clinical oversight for acute general medical inpatients, including comprehensive assessment, diagnostic investigation, and complex discharge planning
- Lead and mentor junior medical staff in a dynamic healthcare environment
- Deliver specialized geriatric services across Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE), Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), and Interim Care units
Specialized Services:
- Support orthogeriatric services, falls prevention programs, and telehealth consultation services
- Contribute to improved healthcare outcomes for Indigenous communities throughout the Northern Territory
Essential Requirements
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in General Medicine and/or Geriatric Medicine OR
- Equivalent international specialist qualifications, for example,
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) - United Kingdom
- Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) - Ireland.
- First class communication skills.
- Interest in Aboriginal culture and health will be highly regarded.
