The health campus is a 106-bed inpatient facility and is one of the largest regional hospitals in Western Australia. 

 

You will join a talented and diverse group of senior medical leaders working to ensure the Goldfields Health Campus continues its trajectory to being a first class rural Centre of Academic and Clinical Excellence where innovation, teaching, training and research all take priority. 


 

 

Your scope job includes:

 

*Filling in for the Head of Surgery as and when required. 

*Develop and provide an integrated general surgery service - including telehealth. 

*Collaborate with agencies such as Royal Flying Doctor Service,  Rural Clinical School of WA and WACHS.

*Developing or expanding your interests in Aboriginal health and research opportunities.

*Instigate and implement clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.

 

The job and location would suit an enthusiast of rural and remote medicine. The community has a population of over 30k and there are additional smaller communities spread around a large geographic region. The larger town has full amenities including restaurants, cinemas, full sporting facilities, airport with daily flights to Perth, pubs, cafes etc.

 

 

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following:



 

*FRACS or equivalent gained in either UK, Ireland, NZ, USA, Canada or South Africa. 

*Significant post-graduate experience in general surgery.

*Member of the Gastroenterology Society of Australia (GESA) or equivalent for upper and lower endoscopies

*Commitment to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives. 

*First class communications skills.

*Ability to build collaborative working relationships at all levels and manage conflict as it arises. 

*Commitment to managing clinical risk and improving quality.

*A desire for living in Australia and experiencing its unique, friendly country lifestyle. 

 

Applicants with experience in regional medicine and/or an understanding of Aboriginal culture will be highly regarded.
