Bundaberg Hospital is a modern regional hospital located in a sunny coastal region of Queensland, just under a one-hour flight from Brisbane. An opportunity is available for a Consultant/Specialist General Medicine Physician to join a well-established, supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care to the local community.

 

 

Remuneration package highlights

  • Up to $576k + on - call/overtime, a package which includes:
  • Motor Vehicle allowance $23-$28k depending on salary band - paid.
  • $22k professional development allowance - paid.
  • Very generous salary sacrifice arrangements
  • Employer paid tax free pension contributions - 12.75%
  • 3.6 weeks professional development leave.

Job scope

The service is seeking a clinical leader to drive the evolution of geriatric care across the region. This is a pivotal leadership role dedicated to championing contemporary models of care for frail older persons across the patient journey—from acute intervention to virtual and community-based support.


As the medical expert and strategic lead, you will shape service delivery across:

  • Driving innovation in Rapid Access Frailty Services and expanding the virtual geriatric care footprint.
  • Providing expert guidance in Cognitive and Behavioral Services (including Dementia and BPSD) and Orthogeriatric care.
  • Overseeing Rehab Services to optimise patient outcomes and independence.
  • Providing high-level clinical governance and leadership for the Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit.

 


Selection Criteria 

  • FRACP.
  • Significant experience in geriatric medicine.
  • Supervise and teach advanced trainees, junior medical staff, and students
  • First class communication skills
  • Willingness to participate in on - call roster 
  • Driving License.
