Consultant in Maternal Fetal Medicine

  • Exciting opportunity to join a dynamic unit of 3 specialists and 1 VMO.
  • Package of up to $530k plus oncall allowances. 

 

Package includes $22k CPD allowance, and up to $28k car allowance and private practice allowances.

 

Responsible for the delivery of tertiary Maternal Fetal Medicine services, including fetal ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, and therapy. This role ensures high-quality care for complex pregnancies and provides essential pre-pregnancy and bereavement counseling. The position involves active collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to lead clinical care, staff education, and research initiatives in high-risk pregnancy management.

 

The MFM unit in the Gold Coast Hospital and Health service also provides following services to the local community, as well as greater SE Queensland and Northern NSW communities. 

 

Services include:

 

  • Ultrasound imaging & diagnosis
  • Invasive testing including; amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and fetal blood sampling
  • Fetal therapy including intrauterine fetal transfusion.
  • Multidisciplinary management of complex, high risk pregnancies
  • Case management of specific, individual women by an MFM Midwife
  • Service provision for Bereavement care and loss management and counselling
  • Service provision for Pregnancy after Loss Service (PALS)
  • Education, training and research for all relevant disciplines within MFM.

Reporting to the medical director of maternal fetal medicine your job scope will cover:

 

  • Clinical care in patient and family centred approach.
  • Operational responsibilities. 
  • QA and clinical governance.
  • Education and training.
  • Research - advocating for, supporting colleagues to pursue initiatives and/or participating.
  • Professional development.

 

Selection criteria includes but is not limited to 

 

  • FRANZCOG or registrable as an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist with Subspecialty Certification in Maternal Fetal Medicine (CMFM) or Certification in Obstetrical and Gynaecological Ultrasound (COGU) or equivalent acceptable with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is highly desirable. Applicants who are working towards
    completion of CMFM or COGU or who have significant clinical experience in the filed would be considered.
  • Deep experience in MFM.
  • Strong clinical and teaching experience.
  • A collaborative approach to your work.
  • Willingness to participate in the on-call and after-hours roster.
