Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is a modern regional hospital located in the heart of Nowra. An opportunity is available for an Obstetrics & Gynaecology Consultant who is assessed, or would be assessed, by RANZCOG as substantially comparable. The Women’s and Maternity Service provides comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care, supported by modern facilities and a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Your Role
- Provide high-quality obstetric and gynaecology care across inpatient, outpatient and maternity services.
- Deliver patient-centred care with a strong focus on supporting women and their families throughout their care journey.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and coordinated clinical care.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture within the department and wider hospital.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership and help support, guide and motivate junior medical staff and colleagues.
- Identify clinical or service issues and contribute to practical solutions that improve patient care and service delivery.
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues, patients, families and other healthcare stakeholders.
Remuneration package highlights
- A new wage award coming in the second half of 2026.

Selection criteria
- FRANZCOG, or applicants assessed by RANZCOG as substantially comparable or UK/IRISH CCT for expedited specialist pathway.
- Applicants already assessed by RANZCOG will be highly regarded.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership.
- Ability to communicate effectively through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Willing to participate in an on-call roster as required and to respond on-site within a reasonable time.
