This job is in Western Australia's largest town north of Perth, Geraldton. Geraldton is an attractive, prosperous town - a major port from where much of WA’s resources are exported. It’s an attractive seaside town, suitable for families, couples and singles alike. Private schooling is available as are all the lifestyle amenities you’d need.

Here you will lead and collaborate within the maternity care team framework - with midwives, GPs, General Practitioner Obstetricians (GPOs) junior doctors and other members of the team. You will get involved in the maintenance and ongoing improvement of quality service provision and clinical governance.

 


Further responsibilities include:

 

  • Working well with nursing staff, GPOs and midwives. 
  • Collaborate with patient transfer including RFDS.
  • With your colleagues, help to manage the Maternity Unit including choosing tech and equipment, staffing proposals, workplace redesign, service development, strategy and policy. 
  • Teach and mentor doctors in training. 
  • Be an advocate for continuing medical education for yourself and all colleagues. 
  • Foster, develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders and partners internally and externally.


Selection criteria

 

  • FRANZCOG or equivalent, subject to RANZCOG SC criteria. 
  • Substantial postgrad experience in obstetrics and gynaecology and hospital practice.
  • Commitment to continuing medical education.
  • First class communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the effective management of clinical risk and quality improvement.
  • Applicants with experience in regional/rural area medicine and Aboriginal health will be highly considered.
