The post is with the Tasmanian Health Service across the North West region of Tasmania. The role provides an excellent opportunity to play a critical role in developing health care at patient and system levels.
The maternity unit, housing the birthing suite and all inpatient maternity patients for the region, is located at North West Private Hospital (NWPH) in Burnie, with antenatal and postnatal services offered at both the NWRH and MCH. There are approximately 1000 births annually and staffing includes experienced midwives. High risk births are managed in conjunction with the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) supported by the local endocrinology and diabetic teams. The unit is supported by a Level 4 Neonatal Unit and an 8 bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit. The outreach services are located at regional centres.
The health service offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School. As such, you will be responsible for providing leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program.

- FRANZCOG or equivalent.
- SIMG applicants already assessed by RANZCOG will be highly regarded.
- Willingness to participate in oncall roster.
- Willingness to travel through the region.
- Ability to provide a consultative service to stakeholders including in primary care.
- Willingness to participate in internal education programs and supervise more junior medical staff.
- Willingness to initiate and participate in quality improvement activities.
