Job highlights
- Provide specialist rehabilitation care services to patients as part of multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care.
- In addition, provide professional leadership within a specialist medical area and provide training, education and supervision to medical students from universities, junior medical staff and other health care providers.
- The Hospital rehabilitation unit is a 10-bed service. It cares for a case mix of predominantly complex neurorehabilitation patients, as well as providing a service for patients unable to stepdown to other facilities (i.e. complex medical or surgical needs, dialysis, etc.).
- The team includes a rehab SMO, rehab advanced trainee registrar, junior doctor (JHO or SHO), and occasionally a final year medical student.
- Also, the team includes senior occupational therapist, senior physiotherapist, rotational allied health (speech pathology, occupational therapy, dietician, physiotherapy), psychologist, rehabilitation/orthopaedic CNC, and social worker.
Selection criteria
- Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine of The Royal
Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
- High level specialist clinical knowledge and understanding of rehabilitation medicine.
- High level of initiative and decision-making ability to make important clinical decisions on a day-to-day basis.
- Demonstrated ability to provide expert consultancy/advisory services to internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective time management skills and reliability in meeting deadlines and commitments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and can manage conflict appropriately, communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated commitment to provide expert leadership to clinical and service improvement activities to initiate, encourage and participate in research, evaluation and evidence-based oversight.
- Collaborates effectively, develops talent, values difference and builds effective teams to bring about best use of resources.
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional supervision, education, and training to junior medical staff.
- Patient centred focus.
- Take accountability for actions, projects, and performance.
- Ability to function in a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership within the team
