At the Royal Darwin Hospital you will provide specialist neurology care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will also participate in outpatient care and consultation services to regional hospitals and remote communities via the outreach program. You will provide care in the stroke unit including thrombolysis and liaise with colleagues in respect to endovascular clot retrieval in other hospitals. You will provide consultant neurology liaison services to other specialties such as medical, surgical, psychiatry, obs & gyn and ICU. Teaching and education is important, so you will supervise and train doctors in training, students etc.

Selection criteria

 

  • FRACP or specialist training completed in NZ, Ireland, UK, USA, Canada or South Africa.
  • Broad experience in general neurology (but applicants with more special interests are also encouraged) at consultant level.
  • You must have an interest in working in the context of providing remote medicine outreach (whilst based in Darwin). 
  • Experience in working in multicultural environments and be sensitive to Australian Aboriginal cultures.
  • An interest in Australian Aboriginal health. 
  • Willingness to participate in internal teaching programs and clinical governance activities.
