Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service delivers healthcare across the Fraser Coast, Bundaberg and surrounding rural communities, supporting a population of more than 225,000 people. An opportunity is available for a Staff Specialist/Consultant Obs & Gyn.
This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality obstetrics and gynaecology care within a collaborative regional health service, offering professional autonomy, varied clinical experience, and strong multidisciplinary support.
Your Role
- Provide high-quality obstetric and gynaecology care across inpatient, outpatient and maternity services.
- Deliver patient-centred care with a strong focus on supporting women and their families throughout their care journey.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and coordinated clinical care.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture within the department and wider hospital.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership and help support, guide and motivate junior medical staff and colleagues.
- Identify clinical or service issues and contribute to practical solutions that improve patient care and service delivery.
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues, patients, families and other healthcare stakeholders.
Remuneration package highlights
- Total remuneration package of up to $548k per year, depending on experience and classification. This will increase to up to $571k from July 2027. The package includes:
- Motor Vehicle allowance $23-$28k depending on salary band - paid.
- 3.6 weeks professional development leave.
- $22k professional development allowance - paid.
- Very generous salary sacrifice arrangements
- Employer paid tax free pension contributions - 12.75%
- Opportunity to undertake private practice at St Stephens Private Hospital in Hervey Bay, allowing you to complement your public hospital role with private work.

Selection Criteria
- Hold FRANZCOG or have equivalent overseas qualifications, suitable to be substantially comparable.
- Applicants already assessed by RANZCOG will be highly regarded as will applicants trained in Ireland or UK.
- Have first class communication skills at a clinical level with an ability to develop excellent working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Have a willingness to take part in the on-call roster.
- Have a commitment to research and clinical governance.
- Enjoy leadership and your role within a multidisciplinary team.
