The parent health service provides contemporary public health services to over 740,000 residents in one of Australia’s most coveted lifestyle destinations. With world-class beaches, universities, and a family-friendly environment, this is a rapidly growing region in Queensland’s southeast corner.
The service's Acute Adult unit is a 24-bed acute adult inpatient unit at for adults (25 to 65 yrs) experiencing acute mental health conditions that can no longer be safely supported in a community setting.
The multidisciplinary team includes nurses, psychiatrists, registrars, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, lived experience (peer) and carer peer workers, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers. This team ensures care is consumer-focused, comprehensive, and collaborative. This unit has strong partnerships with community services, including government and NGOs to support transitions between hospital and community-based care.
Consultant Psychiatrist responsibiities include:
- Clinical.
- Operational.
- QA and clinical governance.
- Education and training.
- Research - supporting or participating.
- CPD
Selection criteria includes but is not limited to
- Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent gained in UK.
- Experience in general adult psychiatry, especially in acute mental health care.
- Strong clinical and teaching experience.
- A collaborative approach to your work.
- Willingness to participate in the on-call and after-hours roster.
