This is a rare opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist with interests in Eating Disorders to fulfil a senior role with a major health service’s Eating Disorder unit. Working with a talented and motivated multi-disciplinary team you will lead, develop and maintain an eating disorder outpatient service which provides the highest standards of care to patients and their carers/families.
Care will be of the highest quality and meet the highest patient safety standards. It will be provided as direct clinical care, clinical data collection, clinical documentation, external stakeholder liaison and management.
Further you will also provide liaison services within the health service to clinician colleagues from acute and mental health inpatient units, community teams, GPs, NGOs - working together to formulate the best treatment for patients with eating disorders. The job also includes teaching and training undergrads, postgrads and other health care professionals, initiating quality improvement and research activities.
What you'll need to do to be a success.
FRANZCP or a specialist international medical graduate trained in NZ, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, South Africa, with a minimum of 2.5years specialist experience at time of reading, with a 6 month formal post in C&A psychiatry during training. Along with these requirements, applicants trained in Sri Lanka are welcome if they have completed 2 years international placement in either Australia or NZ. Further requirements include demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing patients with eating disorders and their families/carers as well as a strong knowledge of the complex health needs for these patients with the ability to provide clinical guidance and intervention.
