Consultant Psychiatrist - Emergency Care - Sydney

Exciting Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a major mental health service in Sydney to to work within their psychiatry emergency care unit. With a new agreed specialist psychiatrist allowance having been agreed, a $45k managerial allowance and a new progressive industrial allowance due in 2026, it has never been a better time to work as a psychiatrist in Sydney.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Provide specialist psychiatric assessment, risk management and treatment planning for patients presenting to the Emergency Department and acute hospital settings.
- Provide effective leadership of your multidiciplinary team.
- Provide advice to ED and medical teams regarding mental health presentations.
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and service development.
- Provide supervision and teaching to junior doctors and multidisciplinary staff.

Essential Criteria
- FRANZCP or assessed as substantially comparable by RANZCP or eligibility for such and/or ESP pathway for psychiatry.
- Experience in emergency/acute mental health.
- Experience in effective clinical governance and the promotion of a first class environment in respect to improving quality, safety and clinical practice.
- Demonstrated risk assessment and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- First class communication, collaborative and liaison skills.
- Experience in informal and formal teaching programs.
