Youth mental health is a thriving service providing care to young people 16-25yrs of age. Support , supervision and training are key to the service's teamwork and that enables them to deliver excellent mental health care to young people with complex and challenging problems. They deliver care in different settings : emergency departments, inpatient, hospital liaison and community settings.
The service offers a high level of diversity across mutiple work areas to support your career.
The multidisciplinary team includes nurses, psychiatrists, registrars, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, lived experience (peer) and carer peer workers, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers. This team ensures care is consumer-focused, comprehensive, and collaborative. This unit has strong partnerships with community services, including government and NGOs to support transitions between hospital and community-based care.
Consultant Psychiatrist responsibiities include:
- Clinical.
- Operational.
- QA and clinical governance.
- Education and training.
- Research - supporting or participating.
- CPD
Selection criteria includes but is not limited to
- Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent gained in UK.
- Experience in general adult psychiatry, especially in acute mental health care.
- Strong clinical and teaching experience.
- A collaborative approach to your work.
- Willingness to participate in the on-call and after-hours roster.
