Working in partnership with the Clinical Director, you'll ensure safe, quality clinical services are delivered across the entire care continuum while developing our medical workforce and psychiatry training programs.

Consultant component

The consultant component job scope includes clinical work within a patient and family/carer centred philosophy, QA and clinical governance, operations (e.g. budgets , KPIs etc.); Education, training, research and professional development. 


You will provide specialist clinical psychiatric support, contributing to the development of a culture of medical education, and ensuring safe, patient-centered care.

 

As a senior medical practitioner in the department, you will also be responsible for supervising junior staff, participating in quality assurance initiatives, and contributing to research activities. This role includes involvement in providing multidisciplinary care and supporting innovative treatment models for complex cases.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

 

Specifically, for example:

  • Deliver high-quality patient care through evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients.

  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance, and departmental meetings.

  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and training to junior medical staff.

  • Engage in research, continuous professional development, and education.

 

 

Selection criteria includes but is not limited to 

 

 

  • Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent gained in UK.
  • Experience in leadership, strategy and management or strong interest in.
  • Understanding of the importance of reviewing models of care to ensure contemporary service operations and delivery.
  • Understanding of the importance of operational KPIs. 
  • Experience in quality and safety. 
  • Strong clinical and teaching experience.
  • A commmitment to research.
  • A collaborative approach to your work.
  • Willingness to participate in the on-call and after-hours roster.
