We are proud to partner with this major mental health service to appoint an Executive Medical Director Mental Health Services.
This is a rare opportunity to join the Mental Health Service Executive Leadership team and lead clinical service delivery across a broad and exciting portfolio. Working in close partnership with the General Manager and Clinical Directors, the Executive Medical Director provides strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred mental health care across the local health district.
This also includes Perinatal, Child and Youth services. It plays an important role in driving clinical excellence, governance, innovation and service redesign across the Mental Health Service .
This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior medical leader seeking to influence service strategy at scale, shape models of care, and contribute meaningfully to the health outcomes of a rapidly growing and culturally diverse community.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Providing strategic medical leadership across Mental Health Services, setting clear service delivery goals, standards and performance measures in collaboration with the General Manager and Clinical Directors .
- Leading and strengthening the clinical governance framework, ensuring a strong focus on patient safety, quality improvement and evidence-based practice .
- Driving innovation, service redesign and the implementation of new and enhanced models of care across the Mental Health Service .
- Providing professional oversight of training and accreditation standards in collaboration with RANZCP and the Health Education and Training Institute .
- Building strong partnerships across medical, operational and community stakeholders to enhance integration, patient flow and service effectiveness .
- Monitoring state, national and international mental health trends to inform forward planning and strategic service development .

Essential Criteria
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with current registration with the Medical Board of Australia .
- FRANZCP.
- Extensive clinical experience within a complex healthcare environment .
- Demonstrated medical administration experience with comprehensive knowledge of professional standards and medical staff training requirements .
- Detailed knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and experience in its implementation .
- Proven leadership experience influencing multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, high-quality services .
- Strong track record in clinical governance, quality improvement, risk management and innovation .
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for service development across community and government forums .
