Nephrologist FRACP

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced nephrologist to join a tertiary health service in northern Australia. This full-time position will be integral to the delivery of renal care across a regional metropolitan centre and a regional hub, supporting the transition of a dialysis service into a fully independent renal unit.

The successful applicant will work within an established nephrology team delivering high-quality clinical services, including dialysis support, outpatient management, inpatient consults, and home therapies services. A key component of the role involves a regular rotation between two sites, supported by telehealth services to ensure seamless care continuity.

The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities. These include providing specialist renal consultation and care within the approved Scope of Clinical Practice. You will act as a clinical leader within the multidisciplinary team, supporting junior medical staff and other health professionals. You will contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, peer review activities, and risk management processes.

Further responsibilities include engaging in teaching and mentoring medical students and postgraduate trainees, participating in research and innovation initiatives to advance renal care services, collaborating across hospital departments and external stakeholders to enhance patient outcomes, and advocating for patient needs while contributing to strategic planning for renal services.

This role offers a dynamic mix of metropolitan and regional healthcare delivery, with the opportunity to make a significant impact in both settings. The health service is committed to 100% supporting its clinicians in professional development, research, and leadership opportunities.
