Rockhampton Hospital is Central Queensland's referral hospital — 305 beds, and it covers specialist medical, surgical and emergency services for the whole region. Visiting tertiary specialists work here regulalry, the facilities are modern, so patients can get complex care without having to travel to Brisbane.

 

Orthopaedics sits inside a busy surgical unit — four theatres, two procedure rooms, a six-bed ICU — and gets through a real volume of elective and emergency work. It's accredited for specialist training and involved in teaching and research.

 

About the role:

 

  • Lead Orthopaedics across Central Queensland Health — set the clinical direction and help drive outcomes for patients across the region.
  • Take on the strategic and operational side of the service, and build a culture where patient safety and QI are integral. 
  • Mentor and supervise medical staff, trainees and students — help shape the workforce coming up behind you.
  • Keep at least 0.5 FTE clinical work.
  • Help shape orthopaedic services.

Selection Criteria

 

  • FRACS 
  • Extensive clinical experience with very good knowledge and skills aross orthopaedic surgery.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Commitment to quality improvement.
  • Experience in education programs.
