Package: Up to $520k All relocation, medical college fees, registration and visa application fees reimbursed, up to $55k.

Service information
The Canberra Health mental health service delivers mental health, forensic and alcohol and drug services to children, adolescents, adults and older people across the Australian Capital Territory. Care is provided across inpatient units, community centres, forensic facilities and in the home, spanning inpatient psychiatric care, community outreach and harm minimisation programs.
Specifically, CAMHS provides specialist inpatient and community-based assessment and treatment for children and adolescents with medium to severe mental illness, significant functional impairment, and complex needs. Within CAMHS there are:
- Acute Services
- a Hospital Liaison Team
- At Home Intensive Treatment Team
- Child and Adolescent Unit
- Day Programs
- Community Teams
- Single Point of Access team to manage referals.
- An adolescent Mental Health Outreach Service
- A therapeutic day and education initiative for young people aged 12 to 18 experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues.

About the role
You'll need specialist experience in child and adolescent psychiatry and the skills to work confidently across both inpatient and community settings, with flexibility to work across other CAMHS services as required. The role includes standard administrative, governance and training requirements expected of senior medical practitioners in a mhs. A commitment to recovery-focused, person-centred care is very important.
You will provide first class psychiatric care as well as supervise and teach psychiatry trainees and medical students, whilst taking a lead clinical role across multidisciplinary teams. Further, you will define recovery plans, work closely with corrections, courts, GPs, community agencies and other stakeholders whilst contributing to service development projects and initiatives.
The mental health service in Canberra has established research links with ANU, the University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University, and you may be considered for a conjoint academic appointment, subject to conditions. There's an excellent medical library and established postgraduate teaching programs.
Selection criteria includes but is not limited to the following
- FRANZCP with a certificate in advanced training in C&A psychiatry OR equivalent child and adolescent training ideally gained in the UK (to satisfy RANZCP Accelerated pathway or the ESP pathway requirements).
- Substantial experience in child and adolescent psychiatry settings.
- First class communication skills.
- Willingness to participate in teaching and training initiatives.
- Extensive experience in MDT settings.
