This major public health service on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales is seeking a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry open to working in both inpatient and outpatient settings , across 2 sites, 20 minutes from each other.
The Central Coast is a peaceful community currently with a population of 340k , with growth expected to 450k by 2030. This region has all the trappings of a major city but with a much easier lifestyle. Amenities include stadiums, sailing clubs, cricket ovals, parks, marinas, great schools, exceptional housing options, major shopping complexes, cinemas etc. Newcastle is 1hr to the North and Sydney's northern suburbs only takes 45mins. (I know this area very well as my father lives there - Alasdair).
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Providing clinical leadership to specialists, junior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams within the service.
• Working collaboratively with nursing, allied health and executive leadership to deliver integrated patient-centred care.
• Participating in clinical governance activities, including annual performance reviews, quality improvement initiatives and the implementation of contemporary models of care.
Selection criteria
- FRANZCP or equivalent.
- UK CCT eligible for RANZCP accelerated or expedited specialist pathways.
- Extensive experience in specialist psychiatric practice.
- Demonstrated experience in working as a senior clinician in acute psychiatry, general hospital psychiatry and community and inpatient settings,
- Strong commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement and patient outcomes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to develop partnerships across the organisation and broader health sector.
