Role information
The mental health service based out of Geraldton, Western Australia is recruiting a Director of Clinical Services. This role combines senior leadership, clinical governance, and strategic oversight across an established and well-resourced service. Here, you will have the opportunity to:
- Shape mental health services that improve outcomes for patients, particularly in rural and remote communities.
- Take on a senior leadership role combining clinical influence, strategic direction, and service redesign.
- Work alongside experienced leaders and multidisciplinary teams focused on delivering high-quality care.
- Drive workforce development and help build a strong, skilled mental health workforce.
- Lead initiatives in digital care, new service models, and contemporary approaches to mental health delivery.

The service covers both inpatient and community settings, delivering specialist adult psychiatric care within a well-resourced, collaborative MDT. The team already includes this job, seven Consultant Psychiatrists, seven Registrars and RMOs, and two interns. You'll be joining a well-established clinical environment with brand new infrastructure supporting it.

- Package up to $575k + additional allowances from Sep 2026

Brand new infrastructure
The new inpatient unit will include:
- 5 beds, including 4 PICU beds
- Co-location with the Community Mental Health Clinic for continuity of care
- Integrated inpatient and community models of care
- Specialist adult psychiatric assessment and treatment
- Strong multidisciplinary teamwork across the full service

Selection criteria
- FRANZCP, or specialist training completed in the UK after 2007 : UK CCST satisfies the RANZCP accelerated and expedited specialist pathways (subject to criteria and conditions) OR
- Applicants already assessed by RANZCP SIMG assessment as Substantially Comparable will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in psychiatry, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and provide leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience or interest in mhs leadership.
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to build positive and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and multicultural communities,
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, supporting their learning, development and clinical practice.
- Telehealth capability and solid IT skills
- Willingness to undertake outreach activities
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
