This comprehensive mental health service in one of the most desirable places to live and work in Australia - the Sunshine Coast. It mhs features community teams, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), acute care services, rehabilitation programs, and crisis and consultation teams.
The Health Service is located across the Sunshine Coast region. It has 5 hospital campuses including Sunshine
Coast University Hospital serving a population of around 500k. In this exciting job you will provide high quality Psychiatry care for the community, with a focus on leading safe care, driving quality improvement and innovation, and collaboratively contributing to department growth and development within a multidisciplinary team.
In this senior role, you will lead and provide high quality care for the Sunshine Coast community within a multidisciplinary team context.
The medical director component will include oversight for the department, the following areas
- Strategic Leadership
- Operational Leadership
- Medical Workforce Leadership
- Clinical Governance, Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Leadership
- Medical Education and Training Leadership
- Research.
As well as clinical, your consultant psychiatrist competencies will include
- Communication and teamwork.
- Professionalism and leadership.
- Scholarship and education.
- Safety, quality and clinical governance

Who We're Looking For
This role is perfect for FRANZCP qualified psychiatrists ready for a lifestyle move and Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMG) eligible for ESP or RANZCP accelerated pathways.
Skills and experience in a managerial and/or leadership role including clinical governance are highly desirable.
